International Coffee Exhibitions and What We Learned There

Coffee exhibitions play an important role in shaping today’s global coffee industry. More than networking events, they are spaces where producers, suppliers, roasters, and distributors exchange ideas, discover innovation, and observe how the market continues to evolve. From equipment and packaging to sourcing and consumer preferences, coffee exhibitions provide us with a real-time view of where the industry is heading and what we should do to not fall behind.
International Coffee Exhibitions and What We Learned There

INTRODUCTION

At ARARAT Coffee, we make sure to actively attend international coffee industry events to stay connected to global developments and better understand changing standards across markets. In this article, we share not only where we went, but what we learned, from coffee trade shows, conversations with industry professionals, and firsthand observations, as well as what this means for our partners.

WHY WE VISIT GLOBAL EXHIBITIONS

Staying informed and innovative, and constantly developing as a company, is one of our non-negotiables. So, attending international coffee exhibitions is not simply about presence for ARARAT Coffee, but a way to keep our hand on the pulse of the coffee industry trends. These events give us direct exposure to new ideas, evolving standards, and the broader direction the global market is taking.

One of the most important insights we gain in these coffee trade shows is into changing consumer expectations, packaging trends, roasting technologies, and sourcing practices. These events are also an opportunity to meet suppliers, distributors, and industry professionals from different regions, helping us understand how coffee businesses operate across markets. We get to compare approaches with others in the coffee business, evaluate emerging coffee industry trends, and identify what is genuinely valuable for long-term growth.

All in all, for us, these events give an important opportunity to learn how the industry innovates, how different providers position themselves, and how the specialty coffee industry is evolving overall.

EXHIBITIONS WE ATTENDED

As we already mentioned, attending international coffee exhibitions gives us the opportunity to observe the industry from different perspectives. But not all exhibitions are the same or even similar. Some events are highly specialized and coffee-focused, while others place coffee within a broader food and hospitality environment. Each exhibition offers different insights, from technology and coffee sourcing to branding, logistics, and market positioning.

Here are some of the coffee industry events we have attended last and this year (with more to come!)

PIR Expo (2025) – Russia

PIR Expo is one of the largest HoReCa and hospitality exhibitions in Eastern Europe, and it brings together suppliers, cafés, restaurants, equipment manufacturers, and coffee professionals. The event doesn’t only cover coffee, but a wide range of sectors, including coffee, tea, hospitality technology, and food service solutions. Thousands of trade visitors and exhibitors visit the annual event each year.

What stood out to us was the strong focus on café equipment and automation. Many of the exhibitors presented solutions that improve speed, workflow, and consistency in coffee preparation. We also noticed that there is a growing interest in specialty coffee concepts within the region, particularly among younger café operators.

Gulfood (2025) – Dubai

Gulfood is one of the world’s largest food and beverage trade shows. It brings together manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and sourcing professionals from hundreds of countries. Like PIR Expo, coffee represents only one segment of the exhibition, but the scale of the event provides us with valuable exposure to broader food industry trends and international trade dynamics.

For us, Gulfood highlighted the importance of global positioning and packaging presentation. Brands compete not only through quality but through clarity of identity, export readiness, and shelf appeal. The exhibition was also about how logistics and reliable supply chains are becoming just as important as the product itself, something we at ARARAT coffee already knew.

SIGEP (2026) – Italy

SIGEP is one of Europe’s most influential exhibitions for coffee, bakery, gelato, and foodservice professionals. Italy’s coffee culture gives the event a unique atmosphere, where technical expertise, tradition, and innovation come together and coexist peacefully.

At SIGEP, we paid close attention to roasting technologies, café concepts, and evolving espresso culture. One noticeable trend was the growing emphasis on precision, not only in the roasting techniques and equipment, but also in the workflow, coffee taste, and customer experience.

Coffee Tea Cacao Expo (2026) – Russia

Coffee Tea Cacao Expo is an industry exhibition, which, as you’ve probably already guessed from the name, specializes in coffee, tea, cocoa, cafés, and related equipment. The event combines exhibitions, educational seminars, tastings, and professional competitions for baristas and roasters. It’s a big event that producers, distributors, and café operators from across the region attended.

This exhibition provided us with a more focused coffee environment compared to broader food events. Observing regional preferences, packaging approaches, and consumer-facing coffee concepts was very valuable to us. Another interesting insight was how education and specialty coffee awareness continue to grow in Eastern European markets, which is another indicator of growth for the specialty coffee industry.

Prodexpo (2026) – Russia | Exhibitor Experience

Unlike other international coffee exhibitions 2026 where we attended as visitors, at Prodexpo, we participated as exhibitors. This gave us a different perspective, as we moved from observing the industry to presenting our own products and engaging directly with visitors.

Having our own stand during the exhibition let us enter a broader commercial environment and interact with international buyers, distributors, and business partners face to face. We know just how important presentation, communication, and product positioning become when representing a brand publicly, and this exhibition further confirmed that. It was also a valuable first step in understanding how ARARAT Coffee is perceived within an international trade setting.

KEY TRENDS WE NOTICED

Visiting multiple coffee trade shows across different markets gave us a broader perspective on emerging coffee industry trends from expos across different regions. While each event had its own focus, several patterns appeared repeatedly, which reflect larger coffee industry trends that are shaping both producers and buyers worldwide.

Premiumization of Coffee

One of the strongest trends we observed was the continued premiumization of coffee. Across exhibitions, branding has become more refined, packaging more intentional, and visual identity more important than ever. Coffee is increasingly positioned as a lifestyle product rather than a commodity.

Minimal packaging, clear storytelling, and origin-focused presentation were common across many brands. Even outside the specialty segment, we have noticed that companies are investing more in design and presentation to communicate their quality and story more effectively.

Growth of the Specialty Coffee Industry

The specialty coffee industry continues to expand, not only in mature markets but also in regions where coffee culture is still developing. To our positive surprise, many visitors showed increasing interest in sourcing transparency, roast profiles, and brewing techniques. Both individual consumers and business buyers alike are becoming more informed, asking more detailed questions about origin, production methods, and flavor characteristics. Education now plays a larger role in purchasing decisions, especially within cafés and premium retail environments.

Technology in Roasting and Equipment

Automation and precision are becoming central to modern coffee production as well. Across several coffee industry events, manufacturers presented roasting equipment with improved profile consistency and process monitoring.

One of the indicators of good coffee is taste consistency, and it’s not surprising that businesses are looking for equipment that will give them greater control over production. And what’s more important, today, even small roasters and cafes have access to tool that can improve their roasting and coffee preparation processes.

Global Competition Is Increasing

And lastly, another clear takeaway from the international coffee exhibitions we have attended was that the competition is increasing, and there are more and more brands entering the market. As competition increases, it’s becoming harder to differentiate. Having a strong product is no longer enough, as brands need to now communicate identity, reliability, and the value they offer more clearly. And this is true both for producers and suppliers.

FROM VISITOR TO EXHIBITOR

Most of the exhibitions we attended were experienced from the visitor side. We spend our days observing trends, meeting suppliers, and learning from the market. Prodexpo 2026 was different. For the first time, we participated as an exhibitor, where we shared a stand with a tobacco company, and got the chance to present ARARAT Coffee directly to industry visitors.

Being inside the exhibition changed our perspective. Instead of simply observing brands, we experienced what it means to represent one. This time, we were the ones who had to start conversations with distributors and potential partners. It gave us a clearer understanding of how positioning, communication, and first impressions shape business relationships at international coffee trade shows. While these exhibitions are not the first experience we at ARARAT coffee have of presenting our blends, each such experience always brings new valuable insights into how the market is developing, and serves as a reminder that the coffee world isn’t static.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR CLIENTS

For us, attending international coffee exhibitions is not only about learning. The insights and knowledge we gain directly influence how we work with our partners. The information we get at coffee trade shows helps us refine sourcing decisions, improve product development, and better understand changing market expectations.

Exposure to global coffee industry trends also helps us understand better packaging, roasting approaches, and supply models used in different regions. This information is critical for strengthening reliability, maintaining consistent quality, and adapting our products to evolving business needs. For our partners, this means working with a company that stays informed, connected, and continuously improving through real industry experience.

CONCLUSION

The coffee industry continues to evolve quickly, shaped by changing consumer expectations, new technologies, and increasing global competition shape the coffee industry, which continues to evolve quickly. International coffee exhibitions give us the chance to observe these shifts firsthand and better understand where the market is heading.
